world tree
Whenever I gaze at the horizon from the wharf at Harborland, where ships come to berth, I feel as if my mind could reach faraway shores by following the ships disappearing into the distance. Ever since its port was opened, contact with diverse countries has helped Kobe develop in a way that is unique in this country. My work presents as a single “tree” the accumulated layers of work created to date, which represent the many different relationships found between people, and in nature and society. At this seafront location, I wish to reflect anew on how we connect with the world, and our relationship with the world.
